Overview
The following step-by-step will guide you through bulk uploading your case information into Hona. Doing so will automatically generate the client contacts associated with your cases to ensure the correct contacts are paired with the correct case(s).
This is only relevant to those with Stand-Alone Hona Orgs. If you are integrating your Hona Org with your CMS/CRM, please visit our Integrations page to figure out how to sync your case and client information into Hona.
The term "Project" in Hona is used interchangeably with "Case" and "Matter"
1. Add Project
From the side-bar, click "Projects" to navigate to your Project Dashboard. Click on the + button (visual below) to add a new Project.

2. Select "Import Multiple"
When the "Create Project" box appears, select "Import Multiple" in the bottom left hand corner of the pop up window.
3. Upload CSV
Upload your .csv file containing your case and contact information.
For a step-by-step on how to configure this .csv file for upload, visit our support article here.
4. Select Columns
Once uploaded, you will see a preview of the data from your .csv file. Hona will attempt to automatically correlate your fields on the .csv with the appropriate Hona field. If it unable to, you will need to manually assign it.
To make sure that the columns from your .csv are correlated with the proper Hona field. To do this, press "Choose Columns"
To change which column is associated with each Hona field, drag the tile (The titles of which are the same as the titles of the columns in your .csv file) and assign it to the correlating Hona field (visual below).
5. Upload + Check for Errors
After you hit "Import," Hona will begin generating your contacts and their correlating cases in Hona. Within minutes, you will see them begin to appear in your Project Dashboard.
If Hona is unable to upload a contact or case (typically due to incorrect data or incorrect formatting of data on your .csv), you will receive an error showing you which row on your .csv could not be uploaded. If there are multiple errors, you will have the option to download a .csv file of all of them. Correct or re-format your data and re-upload.
Conclusion
By following these steps, you can quickly and accurately bulk upload your cases and client contacts into Hona. This ensures that every case is paired with the correct contact from the start, saving you time and reducing the chance of errors. If you run into issues, double-check your CSV formatting and field mapping. For additional help, don’t hesitate to reach out to [email protected].
