How to Configure Hona Push Notifications on your Mobile Device

Step-by-step instructions for installing the Hona app and enabling push notifications on Apple and Android devices. Includes FAQ for common push notification issues.

Setup For Apple Devices

Follow these steps to install the Hona app and set up push notifications on iPhone or iPad:

Step 1: Install the Hona App

  1. On your mobile device browser, go to app.hona.com.

  2. Tap the More Actions button at the bottom of your screen.

  3. Scroll down and select Add to Home Screen.

  4. (Optional) You can name the app anything you'd like, but we recommend keeping it as Hona. Tap Add.

  5. Go to your home screen and open the newly installed app.

  6. Log in using your Hona credentials.

Note: This app will remain on one of your home screens unless manually removed.

Step 2: Enable Push Notifications

  1. Once logged in, navigate to the home screen (Projects page).

  2. At the top of the page, you'll see the Push Notifications section.

  3. Tap the Notify Me button.

  4. When prompted, tap Allow to enable notifications.

  5. To customize notifications, go to Company Settings in the left navigation bar, or tap the Messages button on the Projects page and select Notification Settings.

  6. Scroll through the notification types and ensure that the Push toggle is enabled for the notifications you want to receive. Some notification types may not support push alerts.


Setup For Android Devices

Setting up Hona on Android is similar to Apple. Follow these steps:

Step 1: Install the Hona App

  1. Open your device's browser and navigate to app.hona.com.

  2. Add the app to your home screen.

  3. Launch the newly added Hona app.

  4. Log in with your regular Hona credentials.

Step 2: Enable Push Notifications

  1. On the Projects page, tap Push Notifications at the top.

  2. Tap Notify Me and then Allow when prompted.

  3. Access notification settings by navigating to Company Settings, or by tapping the Messages button on the Projects page and selecting Notification Settings.

  4. Scroll through and ensure the Push toggle is enabled for relevant notifications.


What Notifications You'll Receive

Note: By default, push notifications will be enabled for the following features for all projects. You can adjust or filter the notifications you receive in your notification settings.

  • Two-Way Messages (from clients, regardless of project association)

  • Form Submissions

  • Document Signings

  • Review Submissions

  • NPS Submissions

Q: What should I do if I'm not receiving mobile push notifications?

A: Here are a few things to try:

  1. Check Phone Settings: Ensure push notifications are enabled for the Hona app in your phone's Settings β†’ Notifications.

  2. Hona App Settings: In the Hona app, confirm the specific notification types you want have their Push toggle enabled.

  3. User Account: Your org administrator must have created a Hona user account for you to receive notifications. If integrating with a CMS, make sure your Hona user email matches your CMS email β€” this is required for role-specific notification filters to work.

Q: Can I customize which notifications I receive?

A: Yes. Navigate to notification settings in the app to choose which types of notifications you'd like to receive and adjust your delivery preferences. See also: Configuring Business User Notification Settings.

Q: I set up the app but the Push Notifications banner isn't showing at the top of the Projects page.

A: Make sure you are accessing Hona through the app on your home screen β€” not through your mobile browser. The push notification setup prompt only appears in the installed app version. If the banner still doesn't appear, try removing and re-adding the app to your home screen.
